|
!! Actors |
; Primary Actor : Taxonomist, systematist or expert ecologist |
|
!! Description |
The user would like to find the set of all taxa possibly related to a taxon -for which they only give the name. This tool would be useful to systematists during their initial exploratory phase of studying a particular taxon. They are intersted in the taxon concept in the widest sense and want to ensure that they consider all possible taxon concepts in their study. Therefore they want anything that might be what they are interested in, not just things that are exactly (or nearly) the same concept. |

! Basic Flow |
# The user enters the name of the taxon of interest |
# SEEK returns all possible "synonyms" and "homonyms" in xML format to the user for consideration. Need a mechanism to limit the depth of the synonym search (i.e., how far you go in the synonym of synonym of synonym...) |

! Issues |
Need to have some way of indentifying concepts across SEEK so that users can request them easily - say if they select a sub-set form a return set they may want more info on these and should be able to query with the set of identifiers. |
