SEEK Meetings Agenda

This is version 1. It is not the current version, and thus it cannot be edited.
[Back to current version]   [Restore this version]

We are using this Wiki section to coordinate our 'SEEK-internal meetings' prior to the Edinburgh eScience Workshop, i.e. for the period of 'Sunday, May 9 to Tuesday, May 11.' During this period we will run parallel sessions for EcogGrid, KR/SMS, Kepler, and Taxon.

Edinburgh

The meetings will take place at the Merchiston Campus of Napier University from the 9-11th May (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday). http://www.napier.ac.uk/campusmaps/merch003.asp for a map of how to get there and bus details or http://www.multimap.com to get your bearings a bit better. You can find the Merchiston campus (or anywhere else) quite simply by entering the postcode (if you know it!). For Napier's Merchiston campus the postcode is EH105DT. If you know your hotel postcode then you can see where you are relative to your hotel.

The meetings will be held in the Merchiston Conference Suite and in room D40. I suggest that you meet in the conference suite room and then get directions to D40 if your group is scheduled to be in that room. Tea/Coffee will be provided for the morning and afternoon breaks and lunch will be "buy your own" which can be obtained from the Apex cafe or Triangle canteen on campus or for those that want to explore and have time, there are shops and cafes nearby.

From the 12-14th, the eScience GRID Environments workshop will take place at the National eScience Institute, postcode of which is EH89AA or you can look at their directions page at http://www.nesc.ac.uk/nesc/contact.html#Map During the workshop, teas/coffees and lunch will be provided and dinner on the evening of the 12th.

The weather in Edinburgh is variable so I can't really advise you what to expect - anything from 45F-60F, rain, wind, sun.... who knows....so come prepared for whatever :-)

Remember we are a Pounds Sterling country, we don't accept Euros in very many places. Credit cards no problem.

Don't forget we have strange plugs here and you will need an adapter for your laptop.......

Hopefully the administration team at NeSc can keep you right on your accommodation and general queries but if you're having any problems or have any other questions let me know and I'll list the answers here for all to see(j.kennedy@napier.ac.uk).
