Ecoinformatics: (winter 2004/ 2005)

  • Audience: graduate students in biology/ecology/zoology
  • Objective: This is a hands-on course is designed to provide individuals with the skills necessary to incorporate ecoinformatics and related technologies into their research practice and provide individuals with the skills necessary to conduct collaborative large-scale ecological research
  • Methods: 16 week web-based course where students use their own data sets to answer larger scale research questions.
  • Topics include: Ecological data based design; Creating analytic workflows and ontologies; Metadata and Morpho; QA/QC; Grid technologies; Data discovery, mining & visualization
