Use Case: Concept Comparison for Editors

Actors

Primary Actor
An editor of taxonomic concepts (or parts thereof)

Description

A "(Concept, Name, Reference) author" can query the SEEK system to retrieve a set of concepts for comparing with their (new) entry

Flow of Events

Pre-conditions

  • Editor has privileges to access existing taxonomic object entries

Basic Flow

  1. A new entry is (partially) created
  2. The entry is compared against existing entries and (possibly) matching entries are presented to the editor for comparison
  3. The editor may select an existing entry or parts there-of

Post-conditions

  • System should check against the possibility of creating duplicate entries for either complete taxnomic objects or their components

Issues

This process will be conducted in an editing environment and hence must be extremely responsive.

  • No implication that SEEK will store the new concept or the relationship between that concept and others found through SEEK.
