Status Report 4 July 2005

Completed tasks / bugs fixed

Rejigged visualisation control panel to be more logically ordered.
Added ability to set one classification/hierarchy as 'primary' classification of interest.
Added option to highlight unique names for a particular classification ("what have i got that others haven't")

Current tasks / bugs

Museum collection (MANIS) data visualisation
Reset(-up) java webstart apps of museum data vis - current version is out-of-date and self-signed certificate is close to expiring after 6 months.

Significant issues

have ballooned out to 650MB plus (for seven ITIS revisions) when expressed in the TCS Schema. Looks like such data sets for my tool will have to be kept locally, refreshed when necessary, certainly not downloaded every time the app is started
PS has anyone looked at XML compression techniques?
