- Rob -
- TAPIR meeting in Spain - concept modelling in TAPIR is flawed. Needs hard coding to handle TCS. (ABCD has no internal/idkey refs). Roger proponent of TAPIR-lite.
- Working on modular TCS-parser library for marshalling/unmarshalling TCS document
- TOS not functioning
- Aimee
- Upgraded TOS business, database, SOAP objects to version 1.0.1
- Moved public server (development)
- Documented SOAP API's on wiki (TOSAPISignatures)
- Bob
- Updated EML document pertaining to documentation of identifications and sent to Taxon list
- Working with TDWD observation group with particular emphasis on compatability
- Xianhua is continuing to work on his concept mapping tool
- Sent Ranunculus concept data to KU in TCS format
- Alan Weakley will defend his dissertation Dec 1. This will define completion of the set of 44351 pair-wise relationships where he has mapped 11 major floras covering the Carolinas, Virginia and Georgia onto the 6316 taxa that he recognizes in his flora
- Laura
- 75% through ConceptMapper heuristic analysis (and looking at task analysis results - to see what was left out). Did not look at nico's review prior to her analysis.
- Meet and discuss in early Jan
- Sent emails with review of Martin's tool and documentation (he put together user guide and ?? for his viz tool). Unsure of demo method and audience.
- Jessie: Martin will remotely drive a demo of tool through Live Meeting or some similar technology. Worked well when Aimee and Martin traded control of the desktop back and forth.
- Demo with Laura and Jim at UNM, Martin, Jessie in Edinburgh - December sometime. Very high level - maybe 4 or 5 people.
- Jim will get 3-5 collection managers (preferably 5, including Don).
- Laura will get training lab.
- Possible dates - Dec 13, 19, 20?, test run Dec 12.
- Laura will work on structure of demo, questions to ask
- Martin will work on demo content
- Stinger
- Sent data to Bob, and Bob acknowledged receipt
- Sent county distribution data to Dave V.
- Jim will find out status of this from Dave.
- Nico
- Got comments to Xianhua on ConceptMapper
- Mammals - bats chapter - 2715 entries, Nico would like to pick 1-2 families for 400 or so entries. We have the 1993 MSW data from Kate Jones, and the 2005 bat data from Nancy Simmons. Nico has now forwarded these data to Xianhua and Jessie for representation in TCS XML and also in the ConceptMapper. Once the data are displayed in the tool Nico will provide the concept relationships.
- ConceptMapper then export to TCS for further work and showing to experts/potential tool testers and users.
- Jessie
- Planning visualization demo
- Loaded Xianhua's data into viz tool
- 2 tools
- one for collection manager
- one for taxonomists - evaluate with Bob
- Unhappy with visualization of relationships - will work on
- Jim
- What is our current thinking on taxon-focussed training in May?
- Bob: will the tools be ready?
- Laura: 1/2 day vision, then ConceptMapper and viz tool demo afternoon
- SPNHC (May 23-27, 2006) - One day taxon-vision promotion in conjunction with workshops on 27th. Or register as a vendor for the entire week. Decision - probably won't have tools/people ready.
- Other meetings
- GBIF GUID meeting in Feb 1-3 (Jessie, Bob, others?)
- Jan 30-31 Taxon submeeting Durham or Chapel Hill? Bob will check on meeting at NESCent. Discuss GUID positions (Note: NESCent subsequently agreed to host the meeting.)
- Jessie asked whether SEEK-Taxon should develop a position as to a preferred outcome for the GUID meeting. Bob agreed that this would be desirable. (IN subsequent emails it was agreed that this will be taken up during the conference call on January 5.)
- ESA in August
- will have booth, do we want workshop too?
- who will be there? Bob, Nico, Kepler people
- Laura will check with Matt - will he organize Contributed Papers session, if not, should SEEK Taxon organize it.
- BSA (Botany) 2006, Chico, NM
- July 28- Aug 3, deadline passed
- Meet during SEEK developers meeting April 30 - May 5
- Laura
- Check with Matt - will he organize Contributed Papers session for ESA
- Training lab for Viz Tool demo
- Work on structure of Viz Tool demo, questions to ask
- Bob
- will get rest of Alan Weakley's data. (Note: Bob has the spreadsheet with 44,251 relationships. However, he has discovered that the mapping applies only to the tips of the phylogenetic tree. Consequently, if Fernald recognized varieties and Weakley did not, then there is no mapping of species-to-species relationships. Bob will work with Xianhua in an effort to develop an algorithm to automatically fill in the missing relationships.)
- Martin
- Jim
- will get 3-5 collection managers (preferably 5, including Don) for Viz Tool demo
- find out status of Stinger's county data from Dave
- Jessie
- working on visualization of relationships
- Rob and Aimee
- Make TOS server publicly available
- Viz Tool demo December sometime (Laura, Jim, Martin, Jessie)
- Dec 9, 2005 - Feature freeze for TOS
- upgraded to TCS v1.01
- new APIs available
- Kepler actor completed
- Laura, Xianhua, and others will meet and discuss ConceptMapper analysis in early Jan
- Next conference call - Jan 5, 2006, 16:00 GMT
- February, 2006 - TOS stability
