This is version 1.
It is not the current version, and thus it cannot be edited. Use Case 15: Assign GUID To Taxonomic Concept Information (Provisional)
Actors
DescriptionUnlike names or references in isolation, GUIDs can be unique, unambiguous, and permanent "keys" to taxonomic concepts. Their real value will be exposed when they serve as vehicles for communication about concepts across many taxonomic databases. Queries may eventually run through GUIDs (!), not traditional names. What exactly' should receive a GUID, and how this information can be managed for the long term, is still unclear.
