Taxon Method Parameters

Input and Output parameters in Taxonomic Object Service methods

confidenceMeasure (output)
A measure of confidence between 0 and 1, that a particular relationship is true. If the query is for a single provider, the measure will be 0 or 1. If the query is for all Name Providers, the measure will be a percentage of Name Providers for which this relationship is true.

distanceAlgorithm (input)
A method to caculate the distance between two concepts according to a single Name Provider or (later) different Name Providers. This algorithm looks at the relationships between the concepts.

distanceMeasure (output)
A measure of the distance (based on relationships) between two concepts.

distanceThreshold (input)
A minimum boundary indicating that concepts further away from the given concept than this threshold, shall not be returned.

relateAlgorithm (input)
A method to caculate the similarity between the relationships of one concept compared to the relationships of another concept according to two different providers.

relateMeasure (output)
A measure of similarity between the relationships of one concept compared to the relationships of another concept according to two different providers.

relationshipType (input/output)
A indication of the relationship between two concepts.

returnFormat (input)
Format to return the results of a taxonomic object service query, for example, XML, OWL, HTML.

similarityAlgorithm (input)
A method to caculate the similarity between two concepts. These algorithms look at the fields of a concept.

similarityMeasure (output)
A measure of the similarity between two concepts based on fields.

similarityThreshold (input)
A minimum boundary indicating that concepts less similar to the given concept than this threshold shall not be returned.

TES (input/output)
TES (as in TaxonGlossary) in XML format.

useCacheFlag (input)
An indicator of whether the query should be sent to the Taxon Cache or individual provider proxies.
